Osonwa rolls out empowerment drive to constituents

Osonwa to Roll Out Major Empowerment Programme in Arochukwu/Ohafia

There is growing anticipation across Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in Abia State as the lawmaker representing the area, Ibe Okwara Osonwa, prepares to launch a large-scale empowerment and poverty alleviation programme.

The initiative, scheduled for April 2, 2026, is expected to benefit hundreds of constituents, particularly youths, women, farmers, artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs.

Osonwa, who has earned widespread recognition among his constituents for his grassroots engagement and welfare-driven approach, has previously executed similar empowerment schemes. However, stakeholders say the forthcoming programme is set to surpass earlier interventions in scope and impact.

Sources indicate that the lawmaker undertook extensive consultations across communities within the constituency to identify pressing needs and design targeted interventions aimed at easing economic hardship.

The official flag-off is expected to attract top government functionaries, including Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, and Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, alongside traditional rulers, religious leaders and other key stakeholders.

The programme will feature the distribution of various empowerment items such as tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines, hairdressing kits, grinding machines, refrigerators, deep freezers, power generators, laptops, ICT tools, agricultural inputs and cash grants.

Speaking ahead of the event, Osonwa said the initiative reflects his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and delivering tangible dividends of democracy to his constituents.

“This programme underscores our resolve to promote grassroots development, economic inclusion and sustainable livelihoods,” he said.

A chieftain of the Ibe Okwara Osonwa Progressive Movement, Chief Nkem Ajike, described the lawmaker as dedicated to ensuring that governance positively impacts the people.

Other stakeholders, including Engr. Kalu Ojionu and Mr. Otis Ukoha, urged constituents to remain vigilant against misinformation and unrealistic promises as political activities ahead of the 2026 general elections gather momentum.
