The Abia State chapter of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has passed a vote of commendation and confidence on Governor Alex Otti, praising his administration for what it described as the transformation of Abia State and the improvement in the living standards of residents.

The group said the governor has also promoted Igbo culture and tradition through deliberate policies and reforms aimed at advancing the socio-economic development of the people.

Speaking at a press conference held at the state secretariat in Umuahia, the Publicity Secretary of the Abia chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Godwin Adindu, said Otti represents the pride and spirit of innovation, industry, resilience, and entrepreneurship for which Ndigbo are known.

He said the organisation was particularly impressed with the infrastructural renewal in Aba, describing it as a major achievement that has earned the governor widespread admiration.

“The Governor’s massive infrastructural renewal of Aba has gained the admiration and commendation of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, such that Governor Otti is today the pride of Ndigbo as he represents the Igbo spirit of innovation, industry, resilience and entrepreneurship,” Adindu said.

He added that the group had carefully followed developments in Abia State over the past three years and observed what it described as “radical innovations and improvements” across key sectors, including health, education, road infrastructure, and civil service reforms.

According to him, these developments have expanded opportunities and improved quality of life across the state.

Adindu further explained that Ohanaeze Ndigbo is committed to advancing the socio-economic and political interests of Ndigbo, stressing that the organisation supports leaders and entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence in governance and development.

He noted that Aba, widely regarded as the commercial hub of Ndigbo, has witnessed significant revitalisation under the current administration, adding that the changes have positively impacted many Igbo families.

He also commended the creation of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, saying it demonstrates the governor’s commitment to promoting Igbo culture, tourism, and creative enterprise.

Other achievements highlighted include improved workers’ welfare, regular salary payments, enhanced ease of doing business, and policies aimed at creating a more conducive environment for trade and industry.

Adindu said the vote of confidence was intended to encourage the governor to sustain what he described as people-oriented governance.

He assured that Ohanaeze Ndigbo would continue to recognise outstanding Igbo leaders who contribute to the development and promotion of the Igbo nation.
