Edochie Condemns Criticism of Igbo Supporters of Tinubu
Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has criticised some members of the Igbo community for attacking their kinsmen who support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Edochie, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), described such actions as misguided, stating that individuals should be free to express their political preferences without facing backlash from within their ethnic group.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the actor questioned what he described as a pattern in which some Igbos criticise fellow kinsmen for supporting the current administration, while allegedly refraining from directing similar criticism at supporters from other regions of the country.
He argued that political disagreements should not lead to internal divisions among the Igbo, stressing the need for tolerance and unity despite differing viewpoints.
Edochie further stated that citizens should focus on holding leaders accountable for governance, rather than targeting individuals for their political choices.
His comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting his call for political tolerance, while others faulted the tone and language used in expressing his views.
