Dayo Ekong has been elected as the Deputy Chairman (South West) of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Ekong emerged as a key party leader during the NDC National Convention held in Abuja on Saturday, May 9, as party stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the future of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking shortly after the convention, Ekong described her election as a great honour and expressed appreciation to party members for the confidence reposed in her.

She also hailed the just-concluded convention, describing it as one of the best organised gatherings in the party’s history.

“I am delighted to have led a strong and coordinated South West and Lagos delegation to the NDC National Convention in Abuja, where party stakeholders gathered to discuss the future of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections,” she said.

During the convention, Ekong joined other party leaders in welcoming dignitaries, stakeholders, lawmakers, youth groups and supporters from across the country.

According to her, the South West delegation stood out as one of the most visible and organised at the event, actively participating in strategic meetings, leadership consultations and other convention activities.

She added that supporters across the region reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the party’s structure and unity ahead of future political engagements.
