Abia ADC not involved in April 7-14 congresses – State Chairman, Obinna
Uduma
The Abia State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has announced that it is not organising any ward, local government, or state congresses scheduled to hold between April 7 and 14, 2026.
The party disclosed this in a message addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), party members across wards and local government areas, state executives, and the general public.
In a statement signed by the Abia State Chairman, Mr. Don Norman Obinna, the party cited an Appeal Court decision which upheld the status quo ante bellum, a development he said influenced INEC’s decision to remove the David Mark-led National Working Committee from its official website.
Obinna further stated that, in compliance with the court ruling, INEC had directed ADC state officers not to supervise the proposed state congresses and national convention.
He maintained that the current tenure of ward, local government, and state executives of the party in Abia State remains valid and in force.
“Therefore, party members, leaders and stakeholders are urged to remain calm, stay positive, and promote the constructive message of ADC while refraining from acts that could disturb peace in their areas,” the statement read.
He added that efforts were ongoing to revitalise the party and restore normalcy, assuring members that further updates would be communicated in due course.
