‘You Can’t Win One Ward!’ — Wike Brands ADC a ‘Fake Party’ in Abuja
Abuja — The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a weak and irrelevant political platform in Abuja.
Wike described the party as “fake and nonexistent” following its failure to secure a single councillorship seat in the recent Area Council elections.
He made the remarks on Tuesday during a thank-you visit to Bwari Area Council, where he met with traditional rulers and party supporters.
Mocking opposition figures, Wike accused them of staging political theatrics by mingling with ordinary citizens only for show. “They buy corn and groundnuts by the roadside for political drama, yet ignore real development when in office,” he said.
Wike questioned the credibility of the ADC, saying, “I don’t know fake people. I carry a party; they claim to be a national party, yet they cannot win a single councillorship. Is that a party? A party that cannot win one out of sixty-two wards? That is not a party. The ruling party today is the APC, and the opposition is our PDP. All the others, I don’t know where they stand.”
The minister emphasized that leadership now requires action over empty talk, praising President Bola Tinubu’s administration for focusing on leaders who understand the struggles of ordinary citizens. “The days of enjoying power without delivering results are over,” Wike said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to transform Bwari and its surrounding communities, promising to complete the Bwari–Kubwa road project by the end of 2026. “Agreement is agreement. You have fulfilled your part by supporting the president’s candidates. Now, it is my turn. The road from Bwari to Kubwa — we will finish it this year. We will work with the new chairman, Joshua, because I want someone who understands me, and I want someone I will understand,” he added.
The Chairman-elect of Bwari Area Council, Joshua Ishaku, lauded Wike’s visit, describing it as a rare display of humility from a top government official. “We are overwhelmed. Sir, you are a humble leader and a father. We can see, feel, and touch the developmental strides you have made in just two years. As obedient followers, we followed your instructions, and it is no wonder Bwari was the first election result to be declared,” he said.
Joshua Ishaku also pledged full support for the federal government’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, assuring that Bwari residents would stand firmly with the administration ahead of the 2027 general elections. He urged Wike to continue his “Mr. Project” legacy by building more schools, hospitals, and roads across the council.
