Sowore Leads Protest in Aba, Demands Release of Nnamdi Kanu
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore on Thursday led a protest in Aba, urging the Federal Government to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Supporters of Kanu, alongside members of pro-IPOB groups, gathered in key parts of the commercial city, notably around the Ariaria International Market, chanting solidarity songs and holding placards demanding his freedom.
The demonstrators said their action was aimed at drawing both national and international attention to what they described as Kanu’s continued unlawful detention. They emphasized that their campaign for his release would remain peaceful.
Eyewitnesses, however, reported that security personnel were later deployed to the area and dispersed the protesters to maintain public order.
