Otti Congratulates Ikpeazu on Appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain
Governor of Alex Otti of Abia State has congratulated former governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, on his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain by President Bola Tinubu.
Otti described the appointment as a call to national service and urged the former governor to represent the country with distinction.
In a statement issued on Monday in Umuahia by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor said the diplomatic role presents an important opportunity for Ikpeazu to contribute to Nigeria’s global engagement.
According to the statement, Otti noted that the appointment would enable the former governor to deepen Nigeria’s relationship with Spain while advancing the interests of Nigerians living in the European country.
He said the position offers Ikpeazu a new platform for public service beyond the state level.
“The diplomatic posting is an opportunity for Ikpeazu to serve the country at the diplomatic level while protecting the interests of Nigerians in Spain,” the governor said.
Otti also thanked President Tinubu for considering the former Abia governor for the role, expressing hope that the appointment would strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic presence in Europe and promote cooperation between the two countries.
The governor further urged the Federal Government to provide adequate support and resources for Ikpeazu and other newly appointed ambassadors to enable them effectively discharge their responsibilities.
He added that strong institutional backing would help the envoys succeed in representing Nigeria’s interests abroad.
Otti wished the former Abia leader success in his new assignment, expressing confidence that he would bring his experience in governance to bear in the diplomatic role.
