Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan in Fresh Confrontation at Senate Committee Chairman’s Office
Kogi Central lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, was involved in another tense exchange at the National Assembly on Monday, this time at the office of Senator Titus Zam, representing Benue North-West and Chairman of the Senate Committee on the North Central Development Commission. Sources say the incident followed a budget defence session earlier in the day.
The meeting, scheduled for 10 a.m., had ended before Akpoti-Uduaghan arrived. Eyewitnesses said the senator, accompanied by her aides, went to Zam’s office seeking clarification but was denied entry. Tensions reportedly escalated, leading to a heated exchange between staff members and the senator’s entourage. One aide was accused of physically confronting a staff member, prompting National Assembly security to intervene and restore order.
Monday’s incident adds to a string of recent disputes involving Akpoti-Uduaghan. Last week, she clashed with Senator Patrick Ndubueze, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Steel Development, over the handling of an interactive session with the Minister of Steel Development, Shuaibu Audu.
At the time of reporting, neither Akpoti-Uduaghan, Zam, nor the Senate leadership had issued statements on Monday’s confrontation.
