Gunmen Attack Ibori-Suenu at Delta APC Congress, Several Injured

Violence erupted at the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress in Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State on Saturday, as gunmen targeted the federal lawmaker representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu.

The daughter of former Delta State Governor James Ibori was reportedly attacked at the congress venue in Ovade shortly after her arrival. Eyewitnesses said assailants fired gunshots and wielded dangerous weapons, leaving several people injured in the chaos.

Ibori-Suenu’s security team successfully foiled the attack, ensuring her safety amid the pandemonium. Following the incident, the lawmaker appealed to APC supporters to remain calm and avoid actions that could further escalate tensions.

In a related political commentary, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, emphasized the realities of party politics. Speaking via his 𝕏 handle, Keyamo stated that “only a fool would declare the APC a party of saints,” adding that no political party can claim moral perfection. He reaffirmed that the APC remains the best hope for Nigerians, cautioning against a return to the era of the PDP.

The attack at the Ethiope-West congress highlights growing concerns over security at political events in the state, as investigations continue into the perpetrators behind the violent incident.
