Anyim Pius Anyim Emerges Leader of South-East APC Elders Forum

Former Senate President and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, has been appointed as the leader of the South-East Elders Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The appointment followed a meeting of the forum held at his residence in Ebonyi State, filling the vacancy left by the late former governor of old Abia State, Ogbonnaya Onu, who previously led the forum.

Senator Emma Anosike, speaking on behalf of the forum, said members unanimously selected Anyim after extensive consultations and deliberations. “After careful consideration of other possible standard bearers in the geopolitical zone, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim (GCON) emerged as well-positioned and eminently qualified to serve as the overall leader of the forum,” the statement read.

The forum highlighted Anyim’s record in public service and his socio-economic and political contributions to the South-East as key factors in the decision. He was described as “a level-headed elder statesman” capable of guiding the zone towards supporting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Reaffirming their backing for Tinubu, the forum declared his re-election a “done deal” and pledged to reorganize the political structure in the South-East to ensure his victory in the upcoming general election.

“The South-East geopolitical zone is solidly behind President Tinubu’s re-election,” the forum stated.
