PDP appoints caretaker committee to run Abia State chapter

The Turaki-led People's Democratic Party has constituted a caretaker committee to oversee its Abia State chapter after receiving approval from the party’s National Working Committee, in accordance with its constitutional provisions.

The newly appointed committee will be chaired by Mr. Ikpegbugh Emeka-Yellow and is mandated to manage the party’s affairs in Abia State for a period not exceeding 90 days or until a new state executive council is formally elected. The arrangement is designed to ensure administrative continuity and organizational stability during the transition period.

Other members of the caretaker committee include Chief Ochiabi Fidel Chukwuemeka, Engr. Gladys Okoro, Chief Chijindu Kalu, Samuel Chukwudi Mike, Hon. Seth Agomuoh, Mrs. Ugo Kalu, Barr. Obinna Nwaogwugwu, with Felix Nwagbara serving as secretary.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong Essien, the committee was directed to carry out its responsibilities in strict compliance with the party’s constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. These frameworks define the scope, limits, and duration of caretaker administrations within the party structure.

Party officials describe the intervention as a strategic measure to reorganize and reinforce the state chapter’s operational framework ahead of upcoming electoral activities. The caretaker arrangement is also expected to address lingering internal disputes and reposition the state chapter toward its core political and organizational objectives.
