Okpebholo to Present 54 Construction Units to Edo LGs

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, is set to formally hand over 54 units of construction equipment to the state’s 18 Local Government Councils. The presentation, announced in a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, is scheduled for Thursday in Benin City.

The governor’s office described the initiative as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to practical governance, infrastructure renewal, and strengthened local governance.

“By placing critical tools directly in the hands of local councils, the government aims to fast-track development at the grassroots and reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks,” Ebojele said. He added that the project is designed to empower council leadership, stimulate economic activity in rural communities, and deliver tangible dividends of democracy across Edo’s three senatorial districts.

The commissioning ceremony will be performed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Terri

tory, Nyesom Wike, and will include top government officials, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and community leaders.

Since assuming office, Governor Okpebholo has prioritized road rehabilitation, construction, and flyover development to ease movement between local governments. The new equipment — including graders, excavators, rollers, and other heavy-duty machines — is expected to enhance road construction, rural access projects, drainage rehabilitation, and other community-driven infrastructure works.
