Sheikh Gumi Alleges Nigerian Government Knows Every Terrorist by Name

Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has alleged that the Nigerian government is fully aware of every terrorist operating across the country, including their names and locations.

Speaking in a recent video interview, Gumi, who is known for leading negotiations with terrorists and bandits, claimed that he never embarks on such missions alone. “The government knows every terrorist by name and by location. I don’t go alone, I don’t go to the terrorists alone. I call the police, I call the security, everybody,” he said.

The cleric added that his negotiation teams often include traditional leaders and women from the communities where these terrorists operate. “I will go to the Emirs of that place. In fact, when we went to one terrorist camp, we went with even women into the bush,” Gumi explained.

Gumi’s claims come months after Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, said he knows the identities and locations of bandits in his state. In November 2025, Lawal also stated that he had the capacity to eliminate bandits within two months but was constrained by the fact that security agencies in Zamfara take orders only from Abuja.

“I swear to Almighty Allah, wherever a bandit leader is in Zamfara State, I know it. If he goes out, I know. With my phone, I can show you where they are today. But we cannot do anything beyond our powers,” the governor said.
