Tinubu Vows Nigeria Will Never Bow to Terrorism
Abuja – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that Nigeria will not yield to terrorism, affirming his administration’s determination to defeat all threats to the country’s peace and stability.
The President made the remarks on Monday night while hosting religious and traditional leaders for an interfaith breaking of fast at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The event brought together leaders from both Christian and Muslim communities, alongside traditional rulers from across the country.
Acknowledging the nation’s security challenges, Tinubu said the situation was being confronted decisively by security agencies. “Yes, we are challenged; the terrorists are very desperate now because they are being barraged and defeated. They leave trails of blood in their wake. But I assure you of one thing: Nigeria will never surrender. We are not discouraged. We are going to win and win well,” he stated.
The President commended religious and traditional leaders for fostering unity and guiding their communities during difficult times. He emphasized their critical role in promoting peace and discouraging violence nationwide.
Beyond security, Tinubu addressed the economy, assuring Nigerians that the reforms undertaken by his administration were beginning to yield results. “I can report that the economy has turned the corner. It is getting better. Pensioners are gradually getting relief. We have saved Nigeria from bankruptcy. It was very daunting and challenging when we took over. But today, I can say with pride and joy that we have survived,” he said.
The President highlighted improvements in revenue allocation that have eased the financial burden on state governments, noting that many no longer struggle to secure loans to pay workers’ salaries. He also reaffirmed his commitment to investing in key sectors such as agriculture and education, describing such investments as essential for long-term national development.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and supportive of the government’s efforts to build a safer and more prosperous country.
In response, Yahaya Abubakar, representing Sa’ad Abubakar, President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, thanked the President for bringing together leaders of the two major religions, calling the gathering a strong symbol of unity.
Meanwhile, Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), assured the government that the Christian community would continue supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening the economy and improving security.
Leaders from all six geopolitical zones attended the interfaith gathering, highlighting the administration’s commitment to national cohesion and dialogue.
