Peter Obi Survives Assassination Attempt, Says Obidient Movement Coordinator
By Uduma
The National Coordinator of Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, has described the recent attack on former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and others as a “clear assassination attempt.”
Tanko made the revelation on Wednesday during an appearance on Sunrise Daily, a programme on Channels Television, while recounting the attack on Obi and chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the Benin City residence of former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.
“It’s clear to me that it was an attempt at assassination because they followed us down to Oyegun’s house in GRA, Benin,” Tanko said. He explained that after a prior engagement, the group proceeded to Oyegun’s residence, where they familiarized themselves with the event schedule before moving to the venue, a three-story building.
Tanko added that although the programme concluded without incident, “five minutes after our departure, attacks occurred at the venue. Footage showed significant damage. We then returned to Chief Oyegun’s house, where, despite expectations of heavy security, we suddenly started hearing gunshots.”
The incident has heightened concerns about the safety of political figures and raised questions about security protocols at political gatherings.
