IGP Disu Decorates Newly Promoted DIGs, Calls for Strengthened Policing and Inter-Agency Coordination

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Monday decorated newly promoted Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), urging them to prioritize intelligence-led policing, deepen inter-agency cooperation, and enhance operational coordination across commands.

Addressing the officers during the ceremony, Disu charged them to leverage their experience to reinforce accountability within the Force and improve overall effectiveness.

The officers decorated include Zachariah Fera Achinyan, Zango Ibrahim Baba, Isyaku Mohammed, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, and Umar Shehu Nadada. Fayoade Adegoke had received decoration a week earlier.

Disu emphasized that the promotion places the officers in key leadership positions, accompanied by significant responsibilities. “Your leadership must inspire confidence within the Force and trust among the citizens we are sworn to protect. Let your tenure at this level be defined by discipline, fairness, transparency, and service,” he said.

He added that attaining the rank of Deputy Inspector-General represents one of the highest levels of professional trust within the Nigeria Police Force, demanding integrity, courage, and commitment to justice.

The IGP stressed that the newly promoted DIGs are expected to provide institutional direction, strengthen internal discipline, and support ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the Force. He also highlighted evolving security challenges, including organized crime, cyber-enabled threats, and violent criminal networks, insisting that the leadership of the Force must remain strategic and forward-looking.
