Isuikwuato’s Amibo Community Hosts South-East’s Largest Oba Ji, Symbolizing Agriculture and Cultural Pride

In what many have described as a bold testament to agricultural excellence and cultural heritage, the largest Oba Ji (yam barn) in the South-East has been established in Amibo community, Isuikwuato LGA of Abia State. The impressive facility is proudly owned by Mazi Ifeanyi Agbai, popularly known as Ezeji Prej.

Strategically located in Amibo, the massive yam barn serves not only as a storage facility but also as a towering symbol of food security, entrepreneurship, and the rich agrarian culture deeply rooted in Isuikwuato. The barn has drawn widespread admiration from farmers, community leaders, and visitors across the state.

"A powerful example of what local enterprise and dedication to agriculture can achieve in Abia State."

Observers say the visit reflects growing government interest in promoting grassroots agricultural investments in Isuikwuato and across Abia State. Initiatives like the Amibo yam barn are increasingly positioning the LGA as a strategic agricultural hub, with the potential to:

  • Create employment opportunities

  • Encourage youth participation in farming

  • Enhance food supply chains

  • Strengthen Abia’s agricultural competitiveness in the South-East

For many residents, Mazi Ifeanyi Agbai’s achievement extends beyond personal success. It represents community pride, resilience, and hope for sustainable growth, reaffirming Isuikwuato’s place as a beacon of agricultural innovation in the region.
