Israeli Strikes on Southern Iran School Kill Dozens, Injure Scores

Minab, Iran — At least 40 people, including students, were killed and 48 others injured on Saturday after Israeli airstrikes targeted a girls’ primary school in the city of Minab, in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province, Iranian media reported.

Quoting a provincial official, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) said the school was hit during attacks carried out earlier in the day. Further details on the incident were not immediately available.

The strikes were part of a joint operation by the United States and Israel, which officials said aimed to neutralize alleged “threats” posed by the Iranian government. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump both released video statements signaling support for efforts to bring about political change in Tehran.

Iran condemned the strikes as a violation of its sovereignty, vowed retaliation, and launched counter-strikes in response.

The attacks occurred amid ongoing nuclear negotiations between Washington and Tehran, mediated by Oman, with the latest round of talks held in Geneva on Thursday.
