INEC Registers Over 1.2 Million Nigerians in Six Weeks of CVR Phase II
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recorded a total of 1,228,648 Nigerians completing their voter registration under Phase II of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as of February 13, 2026.
In an update marking the end of the sixth week of the exercise, the commission disclosed via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle that 673,124 applicants completed registration through the online pre-registration portal, while 555,524 finalised the process at physical registration centres nationwide.
INEC’s data showed that women led the registration drive, with 696,891 new voters, representing 57 per cent of the total. Male registrants numbered 531,757, accounting for 43 per cent. The exercise also saw strong youth engagement, as 848,066 registrants — about 69 per cent — were between 18 and 34 years of age.
The commission reported that 19,414 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) successfully registered during the period, underscoring efforts to make the process inclusive.
The CVR exercise is part of INEC’s preparations for upcoming elections. The commission continues to encourage eligible Nigerians to take advantage of both the online and physical registration channels before the exercise concludes.
