I didn’t lobby to be Bayelsa Deputy gov – Pastor Peter Akpe

Pastor Peter Akpe Denies Lobbying for Bayelsa Deputy Governorship

The newly appointed Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Pastor Peter Akpe, has denied lobbying for the position following the death of his predecessor.

Speaking at a reception held at the Government House in Yenagoa, the state capital, Akpe described his appointment as an opportunity to serve the people rather than seek personal recognition.

He said, “Let me make it clear that I have not gone to lobby for any position, including this one. Most of the influential men from Bayelsa are present here. If I had ever asked anyone to lobby on my behalf, I invite you to speak now. In my life, it has always been God touching people to do things for me. I have always said, ‘Lord, just do your own.’”

Akpe emphasized that the role was not achieved solely through his efforts, but through divine providence and the support of the people. “This responsibility wasn’t something I achieved by myself. I owe this state more commitment, attention, and service. This office belongs to all who believe in a better Bayelsa,” he said.

He added, “Some people came to me asking what I was doing about this, and I told them to let the will of God prevail. You shouldn’t engage in anything God hasn’t prepared you for. I give all praise and honor to the Almighty God.”

The Deputy Governor also expressed gratitude to Governor [Name] for the trust and honor, as well as to the House of Assembly and his constituency for their support.
