The African Democratic Congress has raised alarm over alleged attempts to influence the outcome of the upcoming FCT elections, vowing to resist any move to undermine the will of voters through lawful and constitutional means. The party said it would mobilise democratic institutions, civil society groups and citizens to protect the integrity of the ballot.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC criticised comments attributed to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, describing his reported “war” declaration against anti-Bola Tinubu candidates as reckless and inflammatory. The party warned that such rhetoric could heighten political tension and weaken democratic stability at a time of economic hardship and insecurity.
The ADC also accused the All Progressives Congress of attempting to intimidate voters, saying the outcome of the election will be decided solely by Nigerians, not by government officials or political pressure. It stressed that Nigeria must remain a constitutional democracy, not a battleground for political vendettas.
