FCT Election: ‘Announce Results Now, Dr Mo Has Won’ – Obidient Coordinator Calls Out INEC

Tanko Alleges Irregularities in FCT Area Council Poll, Urges INEC to Declare Results

The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Global, Yunusa Tanko, has alleged irregularities in the conduct of Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council election.

Tanko accused officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of withholding results from some polling areas where the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was reportedly in the lead.

According to him, results from Gwarinpa, Garki and Karu had been ready since about 9 p.m. but had yet to be officially declared.

He called on Nigerians and leaders of the ADC to remain vigilant and resist what he described as attempts to manipulate the outcome of the election.

Tanko said, “This is the time for Nigerians to be vigilant. Political party leaders of the ADC must come out strongly to reject any form of election rigging. The target, as far as we are concerned, is to rig out Dr Mo, who is already leading in this election.

“We must confront this now. I urge everyone to come out in support of ensuring that the right thing is done. Dr Mo has won this election, and that is why there is fear.”

He further alleged that tension had escalated in the affected areas, claiming that there had been heavy mobilisation and the use of teargas.

“As we speak, there is chaos in some of these places. Reports reaching us indicate that the results have been ready since nine o’clock but are being withheld because Dr Mo is leading,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, INEC had yet to officially respond to the allegations.
