Ex-Abia Deputy Governor, Others, Join APC with Over 5,000 Supporters

Obingwa, Abia State – Dr. Chris Akomas, National Chairman of the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria, has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a party committed to improving the quality of life for Nigerians.

Speaking at his country home in Nenu, Obingwa Local Government Area, Akomas welcomed political defectors from various parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), into the ruling party. Among those who decamped were Hon. Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, representing Obingwa West in the Abia State House of Assembly, former Obingwa LGA Chairman Hon. George Ubani, Hon. Chikezirim Monday Orji, and over 5,000 supporters. Stakeholders described the mass defection as a major boost for the APC in Abia State.

Akomas noted that the APC is not only the largest political party in the country but also a strategic and inclusive platform. He urged unity of purpose among members, stressing that collective efforts are vital for serving humanity and strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.

Highlighting Erondu Jnr’s long-standing ties to the party, Akomas recalled that he was a foundation member of the APC in Abia State, serving as the party’s first Administrative Secretary alongside Chief Nyerere Chinenye Anyim, the state’s pioneer National Vice Chairman.
