“Abia Is APC” – Goar, Kalu Commend Massive Turnout at Ward Congresses
ABIA STATE – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State successfully conducted its ward congresses across Umuahia North and other local government areas on Wednesday, in a peaceful and well-coordinated exercise.
The exercise was closely supervised by the Chairman of the APC Ward and Local Government Congress Committee, Emmanuel Goar, who led a delegation from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), alongside officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Addressing members during the exercise, Goar assured that the committee would adhere strictly to the harmonisation directive, ensuring transparent and credible congresses that reflect the will of party stakeholders.
“With what I have seen on the ground, I have no doubt that Abia State is APC. With the determination of the members I have witnessed today, the party is poised to record a massive victory for President Bola Tinubu in 2027,” he said.
Goar praised the peaceful conduct and organisation of the congresses, noting that the level of participation and enthusiasm among members demonstrated the party’s growing strength in the state.
Party official Stanley Ohajuruka also commended members for the impressive turnout. He thanked Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, and other stakeholders for ensuring a smooth and credible exercise. He further congratulated successful ward leaders, stressing their critical role in securing victory for President Tinubu and APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Ahead of the ward congresses, Deputy Speaker Kalu addressed party members at the Renewed Hope Partners office in Umuahia, highlighting the party’s adoption of harmonisation to strengthen unity and cohesion.
“Harmonisation ensures inclusiveness by giving all stakeholders a sense of belonging in selecting leaders from the ward to the state level. No individual owns the party,” Kalu said.
He added, “APC belongs to every member; nobody is bigger than the party. The party is sovereign… Harmonisation allows stakeholders to participate meaningfully in deciding leadership from the ward to the local government and state levels.”
Kalu further noted that the President had insisted on strict adherence to party decisions, allowing swift intervention by the National Chairman and NWC when necessary. This directive paved the way for Kalu’s return to Abia to oversee the harmonised congresses, reinforcing the principle of grassroots ownership of the party.
The ward congresses mark a significant milestone in APC’s internal democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to Naija News, the congress process is scheduled to continue on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with Local Government Congresses across the state.
