Abia Government Names New Technical Adviser, Sporting Director For Enyimba FC

The Abia State Government has announced a major shake-up in the management of Enyimba FC, aiming to revitalize the club and improve its performance in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). At a meeting with supporters held at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Metu revealed that Emmanuel Detchuoa has been appointed as the new Technical Adviser, while Daniel Eke assumes the role of Sporting Director. They replace Ifeanyi Ekwueme and Deji Ayeni, respectively, with the appointments effective immediately.

The announcement drew reactions from fans, including a group known as the “Colombia fans,” who called for the removal of the club’s Chairman, Nwankwo Kanu, and the appointment of a new chairman to oversee the team’s affairs. The Deputy Governor also informed supporters that the club’s Accountant-General would soon be replaced, although no specific name was provided.

Following his appointment, Daniel Eke expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for the opportunity, highlighting his previous experience in similar roles with other clubs. He pledged to work diligently to ensure stability and consistency within the team and expressed confidence that the new management would deliver improved results in the league.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Nwaobialor Ananaba, voiced optimism about the club’s future under the new leadership. While apologizing for recent challenges faced by the team, he assured fans of the government’s commitment to restoring Enyimba FC to its former standing in Nigerian football. “We are not here to perform magic, but to ensure the club retains its place in the league. Enyimba belongs at the top, and we are working to return there by next season,” Mr. Ananaba said. He urged fans to support the new management and give them adequate time to implement necessary changes and achieve positive results.

With these new appointments, the Abia State Government hopes to strengthen the club’s technical and administrative structures, boost player performance, and ensure that Enyimba FC continues to be a dominant force in both domestic and continental competitions.
