Abia APC Unites Behind Tinubu, Endorses Deputy Speaker Kalu as State Leader
Bende, Abia State — As preparations gather momentum for the 2027 general elections, the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sent a clear message: unity at home and victory at the polls. The party reaffirmed its full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and his Renewed Hope Agenda, while declaring Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, PhD, LL.D, CFR, as the undisputed leader of the party in the state.
At a Pre-Congress and National Convention Stakeholders’ Meeting in Bende Local Government Area, party leaders, members, and stakeholders from across Abia pledged a vote of confidence in both Tinubu’s leadership and Kalu’s unifying influence, describing the Deputy Speaker as a driving force behind the APC’s expanded grassroots appeal and internal harmony.
Deputy Speaker Kalu, who chaired the meeting, emphasized that the party’s ultimate goal is to ensure President Tinubu’s victory in 2027. He urged members to abandon factionalism and work collectively, saying, “Everything we have come to do today boils down to one thing: delivering His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. All we came to do is to make sure that the structures we set up within the party, at ward, local government, and state levels, deliver the President.”
Kalu also highlighted the party’s successful membership drive, noting that Abia APC had surpassed 160,000 registered members, far exceeding initial projections. He assured members that the party is prepared to mobilize effectively for the upcoming elections.
Preaching unity and peace, Kalu added: “Everybody is important in APC. We don’t have factions. Whoever maintains a faction is not a member of our party. We must come together to win massively in this state.” He further announced that nomination forms for the forthcoming Ward Congresses had been secured and would be distributed to ensure inclusiveness.
The meeting also featured remarks from Hon. Chris Nkwota, who praised Kalu’s leadership, saying: “There is absolute clarity that he is the leader of APC in Abia State. Party unity is key to our success in the forthcoming elections, and that begins by recognizing the hierarchy and working collaboratively.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, party leaders issued a communiqué emphasizing:
-
Membership Mobilization: Deepening grassroots mobilization and sustaining momentum in the ongoing membership e-registration exercise.
-
Party Unity: Commitment to reconciliation, collective progress, and internal stability.
