Abia APC Passes Vote Of Confidence In Tinubu, Affirms Kalu As Leader

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu, endorsing him as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The resolution was reached at the party’s Pre-Congress and National Convention Stakeholders Meeting held in Bende, Bende Local Government Area, at the weekend.

At the meeting, stakeholders also affirmed the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, as the party’s leader in Abia State, citing his contributions to strengthening the party’s structure and visibility in the state.

Speaking during the session, Kalu said the party recorded significant gains in the recently concluded electronic membership registration, announcing that Abia APC registered over 160,000 members despite not controlling the state government.

He said party leaders at the national level had expressed concern about the state’s performance but were reassured by the mobilisation efforts of Abia stakeholders. According to him, the membership exercise demonstrated that the party remained competitive and well organised in the state.

Kalu urged members to maintain unity ahead of the ward congresses, disclosing that nomination forms had been secured and would soon be distributed. He warned against factional activities, stressing that the party recognised no internal divisions.

In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, the Deputy Speaker said the central objective of the stakeholders’ meeting was to strengthen party structures at all levels to ensure victory for President Tinubu in 2027.

The motion adopting Tinubu as sole candidate and passing a vote of confidence in his leadership was put to a voice vote and unanimously endorsed by stakeholders present, according to the statement.
