2027: Labour Party Chieftain Counsels Politicians To Dwell More On Welfare, Development Of Nigeria

Labour Party Chieftain Urges 2027 Aspirants to Prioritise Welfare, National Development

A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Engr. Dr. Emeka Charles Kalu, has called on aspirants for political positions in the 2027 elections to place the welfare of Nigerians and national development at the forefront of their agenda.

Dr. Kalu, an aspirant for the Abia North Senatorial seat, made the remarks when executives of the Labour Party in Bende Local Government Area paid him a solidarity visit at his country home. He attributed the region’s slow development to inadequate representation and promised to change the trend if elected.

“Abia North has not been adequately represented since 1999,” Dr. Kalu said. “If entrusted with the mandate to represent the district from 2027, I will focus on human capital development, improve the welfare of the people, and promote transparency by publicly publishing allocations meant for Abia North. Proper utilization of our resources will drive meaningful development. It will not be business as usual.”

Highlighting his philanthropic efforts through the ECK Foundation, Dr. Kalu noted that his foundation has provided scholarships and medical support to indigent students and the sick in Abia North. He announced plans to expand these initiatives, offering more educational and medical assistance to the vulnerable, including the elderly.

The Bende LGA Labour Party Chairman, Hon. Lawrence Eze, lauded Dr. Kalu’s philanthropy and assured him of the party’s support in securing the senatorial ticket in 2027. He also praised the cordial relationship between the aspirant and party members in Bende.

LP members used the visit to commend Governor Alex Otti for his infrastructure projects in the state and pledged to collaborate with both Dr. Kalu and Governor Otti in the upcoming elections. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the party, promoting peace, and fostering unity ahead of the 2027 polls.

The visit was attended by executive members and key stakeholders of the Labour Party from Bende Ward and LGA.
